4th Sustainable Textile Summit 2025 Spurs Green Future

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) hosted the 4th Sustainable Textile Summit (STS) 2025 at PHD House, New Delhi, under the theme “Innovating Towards a Sustainable Future: Collaborative Strategies in the Textile Industry.” The event convened senior government officials, global experts, industry leaders, innovators, and MSMEs to chart India’s roadmap in sustainable textiles.

The summit opened with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by Chief Guest Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, alongside distinguished leaders including Mr. Rajeev Gupta (RSWM Limited), Mr. Debabrata Ghosh (Oerlikon Textiles), Dr. Pankaj Kumar (UNIDO), Mr. R.K. Vij (PHDCCI & PTAIA), and Mr. Shantanu Agarwal (Maral Overseas Ltd.).

In his welcome address, Mr. Vij emphasized the textile sector’s urgent need to balance growth with sustainability by adopting circular design, advanced technologies, and green financing, calling for stronger government and global partnerships. Chief Guest Mr. Kumar reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to making India a global hub for sustainable textiles, highlighting PLI schemes, integrated parks, and recycling mandates.

Special addresses by Ms. Roop Rashi (KVIC), Dr. Pankaj Kumar (UNIDO), and industry leaders from Oerlikon, RSWM, Aditya Birla Group, Fairtrade India, Bureau Veritas, BIS, TÜV Rheinland, ILO, and Coats Digital spotlighted innovations in recycling, renewable energy, certification, fair trade, labour rights, and carbon markets.

Speakers urged the industry to scale up recycling infrastructure, strengthen regulatory standards, embrace digital platforms, and adopt fair and inclusive sustainability models. Khadi was celebrated as a timeless example of eco-friendly, people-centric production.

Over 175 delegates, including exporters, MSMEs, academia, R&D bodies, and policymakers, participated. The event concluded with a collective call for a strong industry–government–academia collaboration to accelerate India’s leadership in sustainable textiles.
