ISGJ Jewellery College and Lexus SoftMac have collaborated to create a unique 10.07-carat premium brown diamond sculpture featuring the side-profile of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The custom-crafted diamond was conceived as a tribute to Sanghavi’s contribution to Gujarat’s development and his support for the state’s diamond industry.
The project combined advanced design technology, digital modelling, and precision diamond manufacturing. ISGJ Jewellery College handled the conceptualisation, source-image analysis, facial mapping, and 3D planning, while Lexus SoftMac executed the cutting, polishing, and final production of the diamond sculpture.
Developed over nearly four months, the project focused on transforming a diamond into a recognisable facial replica while maintaining optimal yield, aesthetics, and optical performance. The finished piece captures Sanghavi’s profile in remarkable detail, with the natural brown colour of the diamond enhancing the sculpted features.
Commenting on the project, Kalpesh Desai said the initiative demonstrated how technology, design innovation, and craftsmanship can come together to create entirely new forms of diamond artistry. He noted that extensive digital modelling, profile analysis, and photorealistic simulations were used to accurately recreate the facial profile while respecting the characteristics of the diamond.
Utpal Mistry explained that the idea emerged while working on a diamond sculpture inspired by Lord Krishna. He described Harsh Sanghavi as “the diamond of the state” because of his contributions to Gujarat and support for the diamond sector.
According to Mistry, translating a digital model into a finished diamond portrait required exceptional precision, advanced technology, and meticulous planning. The final sculpture exceeded expectations and closely resembles Sanghavi’s profile.
The creators believe the project highlights the Indian diamond industry’s ability to transform photographs, concepts, and digital designs into highly customised diamond artworks suitable for exhibitions, presentations, and collections.
The 10.07-carat sculpture is among the rare examples of a facial replica crafted entirely from diamond, showcasing Surat’s expertise in precision diamond manufacturing while demonstrating the possibilities of combining portrait artistry with advanced technology.
