Zegna’s triumphant finale at Milan’s menswear season left a lasting impression with its blend of groundbreaking silhouettes and opulent fabrics. The choice of Allianz MiCo, Europe’s largest conference center, provided a fitting backdrop for the spectacular display, echoing the novel forms of Zegna’s latest collection.
A significant departure from its traditional focus on classic and modern suits, Zegna, under the creative direction of Alessandro Sartori, embraced a new aesthetic. The collection showcased innovative work jackets and outer shirts, featuring patch pockets, wide sleeves, and detachable collars in rawhide or stiff felt, adding a sharp finish. The trousers, widely regarded as the best in Italy, displayed ingenious craftsmanship with double pin-tucked details, ensuring a flawless fit.
The color palette, including ice, butter, burnt orange, asphalt, and deep blues, accentuated the collection’s richness. Natural materials, from washed to quilted cashmere, beaver cashmere, and upcycled cashmere, dominated the lineup. Sartori’s emphasis on layering, showcased through ribbed sweaters, peacoats, and Henleys, demonstrated a keen sense of style.
The show’s atmosphere was perfectly complemented by a custom-made soundtrack by British producer James Blake, creating a seamless fusion of music and fashion. The audience, including Zegna’s ambassador Mads Mikkelsen and actor Michael Fassbender, responded with a rousing ovation.
Alessandro Sartori, known for revolutionizing Z Zegna two decades ago, once again set the fashion agenda with Oasi Zegna. The collection’s success underscored Sartori’s ability to evolve the brand, providing a clever tutorial in a new fashion vocabulary. As the Milan menswear season concluded, Zegna’s innovative vision left an indelible mark, setting the stage for the next fashion frontier.
