YKK has introduced an advanced fastening solution that redefines standards in snap button design with the launch of its Low-profiled Lightweight Snap, item code SKL30. The product is now available to the market and represents a significant step forward in trim technology.

A snap button is composed of a visible cap and internal components such as the socket, stud, and post. This newly engineered version features an ultra-slim underpart structure and integrates a plastic spring mechanism to maintain reliable performance. When compared with YKK’s conventional Ring-spring Snap, item code SK35, the SKL30 delivers around 16 percent less thickness and approximately 14 percent lower weight. The result is a flatter, more minimal aesthetic that supports contemporary garment design while expanding functional options for brands. The snap is particularly suited to activewear and other apparel categories where reduced bulk and lightness are critical.

Yuji Kitahara, Senior Vice President of the Snap and Button Business Division at YKK Corporation, noted that the division offers an extensive portfolio that includes jeans buttons, rivets, and snap fasteners designed for a wide range of fabrics. These solutions address diverse end uses, from heavy denim materials to delicate babywear textiles, with attention to fabric compatibility, application needs, and operational performance. He emphasized that YKK remains committed to maintaining product quality even after its components are integrated into customers’ finished goods.

He further described the Low-profiled Lightweight Snap as a technological advancement that achieves superior slimness and weight reduction compared with existing products, marking an important milestone in the evolution of snap button standards. Reinforcing YKK’s philosophy that small components can create meaningful impact, the company continues to focus on manufacturing innovations that enhance everyday life.

Thickness measurements are based on internal testing using gauge methods after attachment to fabric, and actual reductions may vary depending on material thickness and testing conditions.
