It is not unexpected that anything Gigi Hadid wears in her Instagram pictures is likely to become a popular fashion trend given her over 80 million followers. The ombré garment the supermodel wore in one of her most recent Instagram postings would fit this description.
This outfit may bring to mind Kendall Jenner’s infamous Loewe blur pattern tank dress from last summer. The warm hues of Gigi Hadid’s clothing, however, remind one of a beach sunset and the famous Prisca Vera bikini that Bella wore while on vacation in 2021.
Although Hadid’s dress resurrects two legendary fashion trends from previous summers, it also adopts a new trend. In fact, it’s no secret that ombré designs and colours inspired by the sunset ruled the Spring/Summer 2023 catwalks. From Zimmerman’s eveningwear to Etro’s beach coverups, it appears that designers were inspired by sunsets this season. They attempted to depict the moment when the sun slips over the horizon by giving tie-dye a contemporary twist and fusing delicate and powerful tones of red, orange, and yellow.
Maximilian Davis chose to follow this trend as well for his first Ferragamo collection and created a variety of short and long dresses that are already beginning to sell out. If ombré isn’t your thing, you can still welcome summer with JW Anderson’s most recent designs, which contain imagery of exotic islands and sunsets that will instantly take you somewhere warm (over 30 °C).
