Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), is a prominent engineering institution in Mumbai, India. Established in 1887, it is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Mumbai. VJTI offers programs in engineering and technology at various levels, including diploma, degree, and post-graduate.

The VASTRA department, which translates to “Textiles” in English, is an integral part of VJTI. With a rich legacy spanning over 137 years, the Textile Department at VJTI is renowned for its excellence in textile education and research. It has been at the forefront of shaping future leaders and innovators in the textile industry. It blends technical expertise, design, and creativity in the field of textiles. VASTRA, born from the collective dreams of Textile department students in 2003, emerged with a vision to ignite technical progress and foster innovation. After a four-year hiatus, during which the legacy set by our esteemed alumni simmered in anticipation, VASTRA now resurfaces, adorned with fresh ideas and renewed vigor. Our canvas awaits new strokes of brilliance, our tapestry yearns for threads of ingenuity, and our stage beckons the spotlight of innovation.

Welcome back to the symphony of creativity, where each note resonates with the spirit of progress! VASTRA organizes polygamy events that showcase a fusion of technical prowess and artistic expression. These events include Technical Quizzes, Research Presentations, Innovative Designs, Draping Fusion, and Fashion Show. The department encourages participation, fosters creativity, and inspires students to explore the latest trends and avant-garde creations.
