TURKIYE’S APPAREL EXPORTS RISE IN JAN-JUNE 2022 BY 16.43%

According to figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute and the country’s commerce ministry, apparel exports from Turkiyeclimbed by 16.43 percent year on year in January-June 2022. Turkiye exported clothes worth $9.818 billion in the first six months of this year, compared to $8.432 billion in the same period in 2021. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothes and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $5.443 billion in January-June 2022, a 12.76% increase over $4.827 billion earned in the same months the previous year.

Non-knitted clothes and accessories (HS chapter 62) exports were valued at $4.374 billion, a 21.4 percent increase above $3.604 billion in January-June 2021 shipments. Meanwhile, Turkiye’s imports of cotton, cotton yarn, and cotton textiles (HS chapter 52) surged by 65.4 percent to $2.790 billion in the first six months of 2021, from $1.686 billion. During 2021, Turkiye’s total export of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) and non-knitted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 62) was valued at $18.294 billion.
