Trident Group is strengthening its focus on sustainable textile innovation through a proposed strategic collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology to develop next-generation natural fibre-based home textile products.

The initiative aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative and environmentally responsible textile solutions by combining advanced research capabilities with industrial-scale manufacturing expertise.

Focus on natural fibre innovation

As part of the engagement, Dr Nemai Chandra Ray, Functional Head, Fibre and Yarn at Trident Group, met with ICAR-NINFET Director Dr D. B. Shakyawar along with the institute’s scientific and leadership teams to explore opportunities for collaboration in fibre technology development and industrial application.

The proposed partnership envisions the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding focused on developing advanced home textile products using fibre innovations such as linen-inspired cottonised jute, hemp, and linseed blends.

Combining research and manufacturing strengths

The collaboration is expected to leverage ICAR-NINFET’s expertise in natural fibre engineering alongside Trident Group’s manufacturing infrastructure, product development capabilities, and global market presence.

Trident Group is expected to play a key role in scaling industrial applications and integrating sustainable fibre innovations into commercial home textile production for both domestic and international markets.

The initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy of embedding sustainability across its operations while enhancing product competitiveness and long-term value creation.

Advancing sustainable textile processing

The proposed collaboration will focus on improving fibre processing technologies including cottonisation, blending, spinning, weaving, and finishing processes to support the development of high-value sustainable textile products.

By promoting alternative natural fibres and scalable eco-friendly manufacturing systems, the initiative aims to contribute to a stronger and more resilient natural fibre ecosystem within India’s textile industry.

Supporting India’s green textile ambitions

The partnership also aligns with national priorities including Atmanirbhar Bharat and green industrial growth, reinforcing efforts to strengthen India’s position within global sustainable textile markets.

As demand for environmentally responsible fibres continues to rise globally, collaborations between research institutions and industry players are becoming increasingly important in accelerating innovation, commercial adoption, and export competitiveness across the textile sector.
