Women’s fashion label Theater has raised roughly Rs 12.5 crore in a pre-series A investment round. The Chandigarh-based label intends to utilize the funds to expand offline, penetrate new markets such as fast commerce, and streamline operations.

The investment round was led by venture capital firm Prath Ventures, with additional participation from existing angel investors, India Retailing reports. The fundraising deal was part of Theater’s overall strategy to establish itself as a mass-premium fashion brand in India.

“Theater is a dynamic and rapidly growing fashion startup based in India,” Theater stated on its LinkedIn profile. “Our mission is to create India’s best design-led, mass-premium western fashion company.”

Theater’s direct-to-consumer e-commerce store features distinct product categories such as women’s shapewear, stockings, caps, fragrances, and purses. Theater was launched in 2021 by entrepreneurs Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain, and Shruti Aggarwal, and it is also available on several Indian multi-brand marketplaces.

“Our mission is to transform the Indian fashion landscape through a design-centric approach,” Theater’s CEO, Sarthak Aggarwal, told India Retailing. “We are dedicated to creating fashion and lifestyle products that are not only beautifully manufactured but also timeless in design. This money enables us to grow through new channels such as fast commerce, develop our offline presence, and speed up our design iteration and production processes. We are experiencing extraordinary growth across all of our categories, and this investment comes at a critical time.”
