India, August 5, 2024: The Telangana government’s decision to allow all stores and establishments in the state to stay open till 1:00 AM has been hailed by the Retailers’ Association of India as an ease of doing business (EoDB)-enabling policy. In addition to giving customers choice & convenience this move will generate more jobs.
The Telangana government has stated that all businesses—aside from liquor stores—will stay open until one in the morning. Additionally, the government has affirmed that it will permit eateries to operate their delivery and takeout services around-the-clock.
Speaking about this development, Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Retailers Association of India (RAI), said, “Customers, businesses, and the government all benefit from extended operating hours. Customers can now shop whenever it’s convenient for them thanks to this step. Additionally, it will increase tourism in the State and support job growth. This is a very smart strategy, especially for the food and beverage sector. The state’s restaurants will become livelier as a result.
A delegation from the Retailers Association of India (RAI) met with the Telangana government on several occasions to discuss implementing the State Government’s announcement last year on the opening of 24X7 stores. It was emphasized that even though the round-the-clock notice was successful, the local police department failed to acknowledge it and requested that the company cease operations early.
Retailers Association of India (RAI) has been working with various state governments for enabling Ease of Doing Business and has been pursuing various departments to adopt the State Retail Trade Policy and allow retailers to operate 24X7, in line with the State Governments of Maharashtra, Karnataka & Tamil Nadu.
