U.S. Sportswear Import Price July 2022 The average sportswear price stood at $5 per unit in July 2022, dropping by -8.6% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to July 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 an increase of 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5.5 per unit in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to July 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($16 per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($3.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest. From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Sportswear Imports Sportswear imports into the United States contracted notably to 6M units in July 2022, reducing by -29.4% against the month before. Overall, imports showed a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 26% against the previous month. As a result, imports reached the peak of 41M units. From April 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure. In value terms, sportswear imports dropped dramatically to $30M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, imports showed a sharp descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 23% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $187M. From April 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure. U.S. Sportswear Imports by Country China (2.3M units), Vietnam (1.2M units) and Egypt (985K units) were the main suppliers of sportswear imports to the United States, together accounting for 75% of total imports. From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +36.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline. In value terms, China ($10M), Vietnam ($5.6M) and Egypt ($3.5M) appeared to be the largest sportswear suppliers to the United States, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Egypt, with a CAGR of +38.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
