The Fashion Illustration and Design Awards, or Fida Awards, are a yearly highlight in the world of fashion art. This year’s event, which honors emerging talent in the industry, was held on May 31. Established in 2019 by artist Patrick Morgan, the globally recognized London-based nonprofit supports and collaborates with fashion labels such as Alberta Ferretti, Tom Ford, Dior, Lacoste, and Miu Miu to promote fashion illustration and drawing worldwide.

An eclectic mix of modern illustrators and artists working in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle sectors who frequently cooperate with high-end labels, big-box stores, and glossy publications made up the 10-person international jury for Fida’s ninth awards presentation.

The panel included Elly Azizian, a NYC-based artist who goes by the moniker Fashion Strokes and has worked with Oscar de la Renta, Sotheby’s, and Carolina Herrera; Jessica Durant, whose clients include The Washington Post, The Gates Foundation, Vogue, Dior, Ikea, and Spanx; and Polish artist Anna Halarewicz, whose work is currently on display in a solo exhibit in her home country

Every year, the Fida awards categories tend to shift to better represent the trends of this always changing and dynamic sector. They were as follows this year: The awards are for sketchbooks and iPads, backstage, front row, and street style, murals and spaces, collections and collaborations, fine art and contemporary fashion, reels and shorts, covers and posters, and students.
