These days, Kareena Kapoor Khan has definitely kept us on our toes. Just a few days after turning heads in the capital with a glittering Vivienne Westwood gown, she sparked a major shift in style by showing out in a Manish Malhotra sari for an event in the Middle East in June 2024. This pink drape is new and in no way traditional; it’s more like a modern creation than anything from a neighboring bygone age.
Although Kareena Kapoor Khan owns several items in her closet from the seasoned designer, this latest suit may be one of her most striking choices to yet. The sari, which is a part of the designer’s Summer 2024 range, has featherlight tulle cut into it. Her pink tulle sari appears to be a stunning piece at first, enhanced by the elaborate thread, glass bead, and pearl embroidery on the scalloped border. But up close, the pearl work and well-placed pearl drips create a pouring trompe l’oeil appearance throughout the pink canvas.
Kapoor Khan’s Mokhte (pearl) blouse, with cap sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, was even more ostentatious than the sari. The blouse’s translucent back is elaborately embroidered with pearls in a variety of sizes and forms to resemble Kashmiri Chinar leaves. In addition to being a symbol of grace and artistic skill, the pattern is frequently found in woodwork, papier-mâché objects d’art, and of course local apparel.
Malhotra has a long history of crafting gorgeous blouses that showcase the glittering diamond. Janhvi Kapoor donned an ivory lehenga for the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s inauguration night, which she accessorized with a statement top that had pearls hung at the base to resemble a waterfall. Kriti Sanon channeled 1950s vintage drama for the Adipurush movie promos, dressing in a white sari with a contemporary shirt that had pearl threads sewn on an embroidered cloth, a pearl choker, and pearl sleeves.
At the pre-wedding celebration for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in March 2024, Sara Ali Khan also wore a Manish Malhotra lehenga adorned with an abundance of pearls. Wearing a pearl-encrusted top with a sweetheart neckline, Fatima Sana Shaikh embraced the trend of pearl core to promote Dhak Dhak.
However, Kapoor Khan made up for the excessively sparkling top by accessorizing her ensemble with a necklace made of rubies and diamonds as well as chandelier earrings from Malabar Gold & Diamonds. For makeup, she opted for blush, tons of highlighter, and lips that complemented each other in a subtle pink.
