Techtextil and Texprocess 2026, organised by Messe Frankfurt, concluded in Frankfurt with strong global participation, bringing together more than 36,000 visitors and 1,700 exhibitors from 112 countries. The fairs reinforced their position as leading international platforms where textile research, industrial production, and real-world application converge.

A visitor satisfaction rate of 95 percent and exhibitor satisfaction of up to 90 percent at Texprocess reflected strong market relevance. Organisers also reported a 13 percent rise in perceived visitor quality, signalling more targeted business engagement and investment readiness across the sector.

AI, connectivity and speed define next-generation textile systems

Industry leaders emphasised that volatile global markets are accelerating the need for flexible, connected and faster production systems. According to Messe Frankfurt executives, competitiveness now depends on integrating innovation directly into scalable industrial applications.

At Texprocess, exhibitors highlighted how digital systems are transforming apparel manufacturing through connected workflows. AI-enabled tools are increasingly being used to reduce manual intervention, improve precision and streamline production timelines.

Bio-based materials and sustainable fibre innovation

The Techtextil “Nature Performance” segment showcased growing interest in bio-based and natural fibre alternatives designed to reduce dependence on fossil resources. More than 110 exhibitors presented materials focused on durability, recyclability and carbon efficiency.

Companies such as Cordenka demonstrated compostable technical viscose fibres for agricultural applications, while Oceansafe introduced scalable bio-based polymer solutions made from recycled inputs, reflecting a clear shift towards industrial sustainability.

Performance apparel gains momentum across sectors

Demand for high-performance textiles is rising across defence, safety, sportswear and industrial applications. The Performance Apparel Textiles segment saw a notable increase in exhibitors compared with the previous edition.

Innovations included flame-retardant fabrics, abrasion-resistant workwear materials, and high-stability stretch textiles designed for demanding environments. These developments highlight how functional performance is becoming central to modern textile engineering.

Connected manufacturing and AI-driven production

At Texprocess, a strong focus was placed on integrated production systems that connect design, planning and manufacturing into unified digital ecosystems. These systems enable demand-driven production models that respond more efficiently to market changes.

Technology providers such as Style3D | Assyst showcased AI-based product development solutions that merge design and marketing workflows. Other innovations included automated cutting systems using image processing technology and advanced sewing solutions with smart interface integration.

Collaboration as the core of innovation

The Techtextil and Texprocess Innovation Awards 2026 further reinforced the importance of cross-industry collaboration. Several winning solutions were developed through partnerships between research institutions, technology providers and global brands, including collaborations involving Lululemon.

This ecosystem approach is increasingly shaping how new textile technologies move from research to commercial application.
