Strix Joins Celebrations for King Charles’ 75th Birthday

Strix Group, the global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of kettle safety controls, has been named as a publishing partner for an exclusive book and event to commemorate His Majesty The King’s 75th birthday.

Following its involvement in activities to celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, the Company was delighted to be invited to once again support a Royal celebration.

The book – His Majesty at 75: The Leadership and Vision of King Charles III – will be launched at Claridge’s in Central London on November 14th, the monarch’s birthday. Produced in the year of His Majesty’s coronation, this fully illustrated hardback book has been written by The New York Times bestselling author Robert Jobson and features the photography of legendary royal photographer Arthur Edwards MBE, who has been capturing images of the Royal Family for more than 45 years.

Charting Charles’s life from his celebrated birth and early years, through his role and responsibilities as the Prince of Wales, to his accession and coronation as King, the book reflects on the ideas and issues that he has championed along the way.

The Commemorative Album features a double-page spread interview with Strix CEO Mark Bartlett, discussing the history of the business, its growth, innovations, and commitment to producing sustainable products.

The Company will also have a presence at the exclusive Claridge’s event, which will be attended by Strix Group representatives Mark Bartlett, Chief Executive Officer and Harry Kyriacou, Chief Commercial Officer & Managing Director Consumer Goods.

The Strix stand will display products from its Aqua Optima brand, including the Aurora Instant Hot and Cold Water Dispenser, the soon-to-be-launched Aurora Coffee maker, and the award-winning Perfect Pour water filtration jugs.  Demonstrations of the products will be available throughout the event.

Strix was formerly known as Castletown Thermostats and was founded in 1951 by Eric Taylor who was an ingenious inventor.  During the Second World War, the RAF asked him to create a device that would automatically heat flying jackets to protect pilots when planes reached a certain altitude.  After the War, he took the same invention and applied it to the heating mechanism of electric kettles.

Strix’s success has been recognised in the form of four Queen’s Awards, either for enterprise or export, confirming the influence of this unusually innovative business.  For many years it was run by Eric’s son, Dr John Taylor, who was also a famous inventor.

It has a c.56% value share of the global kettle control market and it is estimated its products are used 1.2 billion times every day across 100 different countries.
