Spinnova, a Finnish company, has created a patented method for producing textile fiber from wood pulp or waste—such as leather, textiles, or agricultural cropping waste—without the use of hazardous dissolving agents. The Spinnova technology gives the fiber the appearance and texture of a natural cellulosic fiber, like cotton, through a mechanical process.
“Welcoming Spinnova as a new Corporate Member strengthens ITMF’s role as a global platform for the entire textile value chain,” said Mr. Christian Schindler, Director General of ITMF. A company called Spinnova is developing new technologies that reduce the textile industry’s carbon footprint and provide solutions for a circular textile economy. At ITMF, established businesses are interacting with recently founded start-ups and scale-ups, facilitating productive dialogues and collaborations. Spinnova will gain access to ITMF publications, reports, webinars, workshops, and conferences by becoming a member.
“Being a member of ITMF will help to further widen and deepen the international network, discuss with industry colleagues, and understand the dynamics of the industry,” said Mr. Lasse Holopainen, Chief Revenue Officer of Spinnova. Participating in an international platform such as ITMF, which includes members from all over the world’s textile value chain, is crucial.
