The Exhibitor List for Source Home & Gift, the premier UK sourcing show, which will be held at the NEC Birmingham from February 2–5, 2025, has been released. This will enable attendees to plan and learn about the hundreds of manufacturers and artisans from sourcing regions such as India, Pakistan, Nepal, Egypt, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Peru, many of whom are supporting their local communities while conserving their ancient crafts and traditions.
“Every season, we aim to bring the best manufacturers, artisan designers, and technology providers from around the world to Source Home & Gift,” says Suzanne Ellingham, Event Director. Opening up sourcing to so many international craftspeople in the UK is both a great duty and a great pleasure. These social entrepreneurs are fervent, motivated, and committed to upholding regional customs and empowering and assisting local communities. At the next event, we will be sharing some amazing items and tales.
Sumaq Qara, which translates to “Beautiful Leather” in Quechua, is a Peruvian enterprise that has been operating for eighteen years with five hundred craftsmen from the remote Andean regions of Ayacucho and Cuzco, which were devastated by the 1980s terrorist attacks. Thanks to the heritage of their parents, who were Ayacucho tanning craftsmen, the three sisters who founded Sumaq Qara—Roxana, Elile, and Yuli Torres Garcia—made it a global business that supports craftspeople financially while also being environmentally conscious. Learn how to make home décor, jewelry, accessories, and apparel using traditional methods and indigenous Peruvian materials including cotton, merino sheep wool, alpaca fiber, toquilla straw, 925 silver, and baby alpaca.
We are thrilled to be a part of the show for the second time with highly creative concepts that combine Andean textile fibers, embroidery skills, and patterns in line with 2025 trends, says Yuli Torres Garcia of Sumaq Qara. Furthermore, we are seeking customers with whom we may collaborate to create customized goods. Similarly, we aim to be able to provide Peruvian items with natural scents for peace and relaxation. Crucially, we provide retail sales from our warehouse in Holland, which facilitates quicker distribution, as well as wholesale items from Peru at low costs that are of excellent quality.
Based in Ethiopia, Sabahar has been a woman-owned Fair-Trade company for more than 20 years. Its goal is to maintain long-standing weaving and spinning customs while advancing Ethiopia’s economy by giving hundreds of craftspeople steady work and fair compensation. Consistent quality, genuine manufacture, and purposeful design with only natural fibers and eco-friendly methods are the main priorities of Sabahar. Its product portfolio includes blankets, throws, and pillows; table linens including placemats, napkins, and runners; kitchen, bathroom, and resort towels; and scarves and shawls made of silk, cotton, and linen. Presently, Sabahar welcomes unique designs and mostly engages in white label exports, reaching over 50 businesses across 19 countries.
Kathy Marshall, Founder, Sabahar says, “We are excited to participate in this show for a number of reasons. It feels like the right show for us. Source Home & Gift seems focused on the issues of sustainable and ethical manufacturing, and they attract an amazing diversity of international exhibitors which is key to attracting potential buyers. We are super excited to show our lovely products to all visitors with an effective stand presentation and promotional material, and to secure our existence and reliability in the minds of potential buyers.”
Handmade from Tanzania (HFT) make unique handwoven sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, throws, cushion covers and much more from 100% Tanzanian cotton. Everything is hand dyed, and hand loomed at their workshop by skilled artisans. For years in Tanzania, hand-weaving was a dying craft. Helen Espey, Founder, HFT says, “The springboard of the idea for our company was to employ people who had the skill but not the vehicle to sell their products. We continue this philosophy by implementing a rolling training programme where these skills are passed on to a new generation of willing recipients. We are all excited to be participating in Source, as it will give us the opportunity to access new markets, increase visibility and tap into a diverse audience that value high quality, handmade and sustainable products. The show will allow us to showcase the rich craftsmanship of Tanzanian artisans and enable us to network with potential buyers, industry professionals and collaborators. This event also offers us a platform to grow our brand, gain recognition all while showcasing the beauty of Tanzanian hand weaving on an international stage.”
Nahla and Nour Abdelnasser, two sisters who were born and reared in Egypt and were greatly influenced by their nation’s art and culture, founded Ellie in 2013. Driven by a deep affection for their own nation and enthralled by the captivating properties of natural materials like clay, wood, stones, and more, they set out to develop a brand that perfectly captures Egypt’s breathtaking beauty. Ellie is a locally owned company that strives to provide exquisite handcrafted home décor and dinnerware. A group of gifted Egyptian artisans painstakingly construct the gorgeous items, contributing their creativity and skill to each one.
Kendaka, an Egyptian company, was founded to foster creativity and empower women who have few career options and look for close-knit, safe workplaces to support their families financially and intellectually. With its glass upcycling, used-plastic weaving, and textile-crochet area, it is a venue created by women for women and is dedicated to women and trash reuse. It blends the desire to lessen the negative environmental effects of garbage in Egypt with the enthusiasm for empowering women in remote regions.
