Sonam Kapoor, a Bollywood actor, was one of the many celebrities in attendance at King Charles III’s Coronation Concert. Following the Coronation ceremony, the event took place on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle, where King Charles and Queen Camilla enjoyed a showcase of performances. Sonam was invited to give a spoken word introduction to Steve Winwood and the Commonwealth virtual choir. The actor’s attire for the evening was a bespoke printed gown designed by two of her favourite designers, Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead, from India and the UK, which she considers her two homes. Sonam shared snapshots of her ensemble from the event on Instagram, crediting the dress as being the product of the collaboration between two remarkable designers. In her post, she expressed that fashion is crucial in historic events. She felt grateful to wear the collaborative design of two exceptional designers from two countries that she calls home, expressing honor to be part of such an unforgettable occasion at the #CoronationConcert.
Sonam’s off-white, floor-length dress boasted a Calico-inspired print co-designed by Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead. The gown also featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, which flaunted her décolletage, with a band detail around the shoulders that framed the corseted bodice and extended into a full skirt. Architectural godet pleats gave the skirt its shape, with a cinched waistline and floor-length hem rounding out the look.
The Vogue publication confirmed that Emilia Wickstead was responsible for designing the dress, and Anamika Khanna’s contribution to the ensemble was the Calico-inspired print, which lent a distinct finish to the dress that shined at the Coronation Concert. The fashion design showcased in the post was inspired by ancient Calico prints of the 17th and 18th centuries. Calico prints were commonly traded between India and the UK in the past.
In addition to the dress, Sonam accessorized the outfit with modest earrings, statement ring, and heels. Sonam opted for side-parted waves, a subtle smoky eye shadow, darkened brows, lashes enhanced with mascara, rouged cheeks, a glossy blush lip shade, light contouring, dewy base, and an illuminating highlighter perfecting her beauty look.
