As part of Gujarat’s ongoing smart electricity metering initiative, a smart meter was installed at the residence of Hon’ble Shri Mukesh Patel, Minister of Forest, Environment, Climate Change, Water Resources, and Water Supply, and MLA from Olpad, Surat.

The installation took place in the presence of senior officials from DGVCL, IntelliSmart Infrastructure, and RECPDCL, key partners driving the smart metering project under the Ministry of Power’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Shri Mukesh Patel welcomed the move, calling smart meters a vital tool in building an efficient, transparent, and consumer-friendly electricity system. He encouraged citizens to embrace this transformative step for a more sustainable future.

Olpad is a priority region for Gujarat’s smart metering rollout, with thousands of installations currently in progress. The initiative aims to reduce AT&C losses, boost efficiency, and empower consumers through real-time data and accurate billing.

The active collaboration between public and private entities like DGVCL, IntelliSmart, and RECPDCL showcases the robust partnership model advancing India’s smart power infrastructure.
