Shiseido, the renowned Japanese beauty brand, is set to open its first physical store in India in collaboration with its Indian distributor, Baccarose Perfumes and Beauty Products Private Limited. The store’s grand opening is scheduled for October 18 at Mumbai’s Inorbit Mall in Malad. In addition to this exciting venture, Shiseido has appointed Tamannaah Bhatia as its inaugural brand ambassador for the Indian market, a move that has been widely reported in India Retailing.
To mark the launch of the store, beauty retailer Parcos has organized a contest, offering a chance for a Mumbai resident to meet Tamannaah Bhatia at Inorbit Mall, as announced on Facebook.
Nicolas Baudonnet, Shiseido’s Asia Pacific vice president of fragrance and cosmetics, expressed enthusiasm for this expansion, stating, “With the appointment of Tamannaah and expanding our presence in the market with the opening of our first brand Shiseido store in Mumbai, we are looking forward to bringing Indian beauty enthusiasts on an exciting journey ahead with the brand.”
Shiseido currently offers beauty and skincare products in 62 retail outlets across India, with plans to increase its presence to a total of 75 multi-brand retail outlets by the end of the year. Simultaneously, the brand is actively expanding its e-commerce presence in India.
Tamannaah Bhatia, the newly appointed brand ambassador, emphasized her personal alignment with Shiseido’s commitment to innovation, quality, and celebrating individuality. She noted that beauty is not solely about external appearance but also about feeling confident and empowered in one’s own skin. This association with Shiseido reflects her personal ethos.
The opening of the first Shiseido store in India and the collaboration with a prominent brand ambassador mark significant steps in Shiseido’s expansion and outreach in the Indian beauty market.
