SHIMA SEIKI to Showcase Knitwear Innovations at Milan Event
The “Archivi Punti Aperti” event will connect designers, fashion brands and yarn manufacturers through material exploration and digital knitwear technologies.
SHIMA SEIKI MFG. LTD., a knitting solutions provider based in Wakayama, Japan, will host “Archivi Punti Aperti (Open Archives: Knit Stitch Collection)” in Milan, Italy, from 14 to 28 October 2026.
Organised in collaboration with Milano Trend and its Italian subsidiary, SHIMA SEIKI ITALIA S.r.l., the invitation-only event will showcase the latest developments in knit materials and technology. It will also connect designers and fashion brands with yarn manufacturers.
Exploring Premium Yarns and Knitted Fabrics
The event will feature premium yarns from leading European manufacturers, particularly those based in Italy. It will also present selected materials from suppliers participating in yarnbank®, SHIMA SEIKI’s online platform for yarn information and digital yarn data from manufacturers worldwide.
Visitors will have the opportunity to examine yarns and knitted fabrics in person. They can explore their colours, textures and feel, helping them identify materials for new designs and product development.
Additionally, visitors will be able to cut and take selected fabric samples with them. These materials can serve as references for future design concepts and product development projects.
Digital Knit Simulations with APEXFiz®
Digital technology will be another key feature of the event. SHIMA SEIKI will showcase virtual knit simulations created using digitally reproduced yarns through its APEXFiz® design software.
These realistic digital prototypes demonstrate how digital yarn data can be translated into knitwear designs with a high degree of accuracy. The approach supports the development of digital prototypes that can inform production-ready designs.
The exhibition will also feature SHIMA SEIKI’s latest knitted samples. These will highlight advanced structures, knitting techniques and material innovations shaping the future of the knitwear industry.
