Due to today’s Barbie movie premiere, one of London’s biggest shopping areas has taken on a distinctly pink hue.
With exclusive Barbie-inspired activations that let fans enter her world by bringing her Dreamhouse to life, Selfridges has immersed itself into commemorating the famed doll’s film premiere.
Movie scenes, including the Barbie party scene, are being shown in windows along the store’s renowned frontage on Oxford Street in London. These scenes showcase the official costumes, including the sequin jumpsuit worn by Margot Robbie and the white and gold jumpsuit worn by Ryan Gosling.
Barbie at the Selfridges Corner Shop, meantime, even has a copy of the pink Corvette that the character in the movie drives about Barbieland.
Customers have access to Selfridges Rental’s first-ever Barbie Dream Wardrobe. Theo White, a stylist and art director, selected the styles, which span the doll’s 64-year career.
Fans can also pay homage to Barbie’s more than 250 careers with outfits modelled in front of a stunning backdrop and inspired by the different guises in which she has appeared.
Additionally, Lisa Eldridge’s bookable beauty looks are available in the beauty salon section, offering customers makeovers, hairstyles, and manicures. Naturally, the Toy Shop is investing heavily in Barbie as well.
Additionally, it’s not just in London; Selfridges Trafford will have dolls from the movie and other stuff, and Barbie will have a location in Birmingham with a selfie station and movie merchandise.
