New York is vibrant once more, and not just because of the verdant foliage and blossoming flowers! Yes, the filming season has begun. On-set sightings abounding in summer style inspiration, from Selena Gomcz filming Only Murders in the Building to Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of And Just Like That.

Seeing the performers get comfy in their costumes is one of the most fascinating aspects of the behind-the-scenes pictures that surface from these somewhat public settings. Gomez provided us an unforgettable moment today: during filming a wedding scene, she was spotted wearing the most flawlessly mismatched ensemble I have ever seen. As someone who has only watched maybe three and a half episodes of Only Murders, this means nothing to me, but I apologize if it’s a spoiler.

Gomez donned a fuchsia midi dress by Rebecca Vallance with a lower back cutout and voluminous sleeves made of fringed tulle. I’m very enthralled with the mismatched styling, though. The actor executed the carefree look well by wearing her hair up in a bun, black sunglasses, and—best of all—slip-on Uggs.

I never really bought into the whole “wrong shoe theory” thing (you will never ever see me, for example, in a sundress and Salomons), but there’s something really appealing about Gomez’s party dress and the coziest, most lazy sneaker ever combined. It reminds me of rushing to the grocery shop in the middle of preparing dinner because you forgot to pick up fresh herbs, or scurrying out to the store mid-soirée because you ran out of wine.

Gomez’s ensemble exudes a wild spirit that resurfaces in the summertime—the grandiosity of the dress contrasted with the practicality of the sneakers. Wearing this, I want to write “The Next Great American Novel” or, if I’m feeling really hungover, watch a whole season of Vanderpump Rules. I hope everyone has a crazy, careless, and stylish summer!
