And sadly in the majority of the cases now these Banarasi Sarees are being made with machines only a very few weavers are only making this by hand.
Fulia Tant Sarees Fulia in West Bengal used to be the epicenter of Bengal Tant Saree after the partition.
We still know these Fulia Tant Sarees for their use of High-Quality materials, exclusive designs & Astonishing Border Designs in different Tant Sarees of Bengal.
Not to mention there is hardly any type of Sarees that is not made in Fulia, meanwhile, Shantipuri Cotton Sarees are eminently known for their special Cotton Tant Saree type.
Most of the Current weavers in India have already opted for machines or Power looms for production, but in Fulia there is still a handful number of weavers who are still trying their best to keep this near-extinct art alive .

- Kantha Stitch Bengali Saree
Kantha means Blanket or Rag. Historically, women across Bengal used to stitch these Kanthas in their homes using stitches and that style of stitching got implemented on sarees and got popularized as Kantha Stich Sarees. The beauty of this design is just out of this universe. You might see multiple Kantha Stich Sarees around the country, like the Chikankari type of Lucknow and Gota Patti from Rajasthan.

It is believed that the first Nawab of West Bengal, Murshid Quli Khan, introduced the Baluchori style of weaving to the namesake village (Baluchor) in the 18th century. The origin of the weaving style is in Dhaka, which was a part of India before partition. Most of the Baluchori sarees depict scenes from the Hindu scriptures like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Due to the recurring floods in the Bhagirathi River in Baluchor, the weavers have shifted base to Bishnupur.
- Matka Silk Saree
The beauty of Matka sarees lies around the flaccid fabric. It has some really unique borders, and some really unique boxes drawn around the entire Saree. It is not actually drawn, but the squares are formed during the weaving process.
These sarees have a soft elegance to them. It feels like a bridal Saree, but better with the most elegant borders and pallu Gota Patti’s work. In fact, this Saree deserves to be at the top of anybody Bridal shopping list, most importantly for the Haldi Ceremony.
- Korial Bengali Saree

This kind of saree is especially made in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Its solid colour varieties and the lovely patterns printed on the pallu make it truly desirable.
