The Ministry for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises of the government reports a 332% increase in sales of handcrafted Khadi fabrics and commodities over the previous nine years. The growth in sales has contributed to a 150% increase in the earnings of artisans during the same time period.

“In the financial year 2013-2014 to 2022-2023, where there was an increase of 268% in the production of Khadi and village industry products, the sales touched the figure of 332%, breaking all records,” the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises stated in a statement, according to ET Bureau.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission has greatly increased employment in the sector in rural regions as a result of the industry’s outstanding nine-year performance, which will help to support the development of 9.5 lakh new jobs in the 2023 fiscal year. From 1.3 crore in the 2014 fiscal year to 1.77 crore in the 2023 fiscal year, the sector’s total employment rose.
