Santacruz, Mumbai, [25-04 – 2024]* – Residents longing for better living circumstances have some hope now that Transcon Developers has completed the Santacruz West Khotwadi Slum Redevelopment Project. For many, however, the benefits that are promised are not met in reality. For the previous six years, people have not received rent for their homes or commercial premises, even though the reconstruction has been completed.
The initiative, led by Transcon Developers’ Aditya and Kirti Kedia, sought to improve the quality of life for locals by modernizing and revitalizing the area. But because of the protracted wait for compensation, many families are now in desperate financial situations with no end in sight.
The lack of reaction from Transcon Developers over their unpaid rent is causing residents great concern. Their entreaties have been ignored by the developers despite multiple attempts to get in touch with them. The anxiety of the inhabitants has been exacerbated by claims of intimidation tactics used by the representatives of the construction.
“People are suffering greatly because for the last six years, the builder has not paid them for the use of their residential and business properties. Our lives are at risk because of this circumstance. An anonymous resident says, “We are left struggling to make ends meet because we trusted the promises made by Transcon Developers.”
The ongoing plight of Santacruz West Khotwadi residents highlights the urgent need for accountability and transparency in redevelopment projects. The community urges Transcon Developers to fulfill their obligations promptly and provide the necessary support to ensure a smooth transition for all residents.
Residents are also appealing to the government for immediate action and assistance in resolving this matter and safeguarding their rights.
