Roots (TSX: ROOT) has unveiled its 20th design collaboration, joining forces with the renowned streetwear brand CLOT. The partnership introduces two exclusive collections, seamlessly blending the heritage and aesthetics of Canada and Hong Kong. Timed to coincide with Roots’ 50th-anniversary milestone and CLOT’s 20th-anniversary celebration, this collaboration marks a significant continuation of both brands’ legacies. The first collection, titled “Go Outside: You’ll Be Glad,” will debut on November 10th in Canada and November 11th in Asia, with a second collection following on January 13th, aligning with the Lunar New Year.
Co-designed by Edison Chen, the Founder and Creative Director of CLOT, the “Go Outside: You’ll Be Glad” collection is a testament to quality craftsmanship. Handcrafted in Canada at the Roots Toronto factory, the collection features high-quality embroidery and aims to inspire consumers to connect with their surroundings amid the chaos of daily life. Edison Chen views the collection as a literal interpretation that the outdoors is accessible to everyone, whether in the scenic landscapes of Canada or the bustling streets of Hong Kong.
The campaign, shot in Chen’s hometown of Vancouver, combines classic street style photography with a global perspective and the Canadian wilderness. Set against meadows, lakes, and mountainous terrain, it serves as a fitting backdrop for a collection that encourages wearers to “Go Outside.”
Meghan Roach, Roots CEO, emphasized the fusion of Edison’s Vancouver heritage and deep Canadian roots in the collection. The “Go Outside: You’ll Be Glad” range not only makes a fashion statement but also serves as a shared manifesto to reconnect with nature and the vibrancy of city life. The collaboration reflects a blend of Roots’ commitment to quality, comfort, and style with CLOT’s innovative spirit.
The gender-free collection includes a Leather Varsity Jacket, Crewnecks, Kanga Hoodies, and Track Pants, among other core wardrobe pieces, with prices ranging between $18 and $1,398 CAD. The second collection, “Lunar New Year,” inspired by the Year of the Dragon, features fleece, tees, accessories, and a Leather Varsity Jacket.
The Roots x CLOT collection will be available on Tmall (CLOT and Roots), in Roots stores across Canada, the US, and Taiwan, at JUICE stores in China, and on roots.com.
