Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna has expanded its men’s and women’s event wear offerings with the introduction of the ‘Nocturnum’ couture collection. The celestial-inspired collection includes a variety of conventional and fusion-style silhouettes for the autumn holiday season.
“Nocturnum is a collection of the night,” said designers Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna in a news statement. “We envisioned what falling stars might look like if they sped across the night sky and turned into blossoms before hitting the surface of our earth. This is a collection about structure, dazzling down to feeling, resulting in a collection that pushes the limits of high couture. Our patterns incorporate matadors, stars, and pixelated flowers to create kaleidoscopic florals that blend the past, present, and future.”
The couture collection’s showpiece is a uniquely designed star-centric pattern that radiates from a central point. According to the creators, the pattern represents both the earth’s interconnection and the power of stars.
The collection’s textiles span from velvet and silk satins to tulles, all created to play with shadows and light. While spectacular gowns are the rule of the day for ladies, the men’s collection maintains a traditional silhouette, with longline jackets modernized with exquisite cut-out motifs.
