UK-based vintage-inspired occasionwear brand, Rixo, has unveiled an innovative ‘try-before-you-buy’ (TBYB) service in the UK, in collaboration with Harper, the manager of Rixo’s existing concierge service. This offering is a groundbreaking development in the UK fashion market, enabling customers to try on items in the comfort of their homes without any upfront payments.

Launched on November 6th through Rixo’s webstore, the service is tailored for those who may be unable to visit physical stores, offering added convenience, especially for customers residing outside London or those facing various constraints.

The TBYB service streamlines the process, providing a single delivery and return option, eliminating the need for multiple back-and-forth deliveries typically associated with exchanges. While customers are required to cover the standard Rixo delivery fee, no payment is deducted for the order itself when opting for the ‘try-before-you-buy’ feature.

Rixo’s commitment to the customer’s needs is evident in their statement, where they acknowledge the current financial pressures many individuals face and the desire to offer a solution that aligns with their circumstances. This industry-first initiative aims to provide flexibility and affordability in a time when these factors are of paramount importance.

The company takes a sustainable approach to packaging, utilizing reusable RePack packaging that significantly reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to single-use packaging. The packaging is designed for long-lasting use, demonstrating Rixo’s commitment to environmentally conscious practices.

Liam Young, founder of Harper, emphasized the customer-centric approach to designing this service, ensuring that users have the freedom to try on multiple pieces without the financial outlay or credit risk associated with other solutions. The service was meticulously crafted to be both economically and environmentally responsible, offering a comfortable five-day period for customers to make decisions while ensuring swift return and restocking of unwanted items. Additionally, the service eliminates disposable packaging from the online shopping experience, marking a first in the UK and potentially paving the way for other conscious brands to follow suit.
