November 5, 2024, Mumbai: The Retailers Association of India (RAI), the national trade association for retailers, is stepping up to help the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Voter Awareness Initiative ahead of the Maharashtra State Assembly elections, which begin on November 20, 2024. By this initiative, RAI is motivating its members to spread the word about the value of voting and to encourage people to take an active role in the democratic process.

RAI, the collective voice of Indian retailers, is essential to the development of the contemporary retail sector. RAI, which has more than 13,000 members running almost 600,000 establishments countrywide, is dedicated to encouraging behaviors that not only help its members but contribute to the overall state of the economy as well.

“At RAI, we understand that our role extends beyond the retail sector, and we have a responsibility to encourage civic engagement among our members and to help spread awareness among employees and customers, ensuring that optimal awareness is created,” said Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO of the Retailers Association of India (RAI), emphasizing the importance of the voter awareness initiative. Voting is the foundation of our democracy, not just a right. Our society’s basis is strengthened when we enable citizens to utilize their right to vote. We commend the BMC for taking the initiative to educate people about the importance of voting.

RAI will be carrying out the following tasks as part of this initiative:

  1. Thorough Voter Education: RAI will educate all members on the value of voting and motivate them to teach their staff and clients about their right to vote.
  2. Exclusive Deals for Voters: To stimulate civic engagement, RAI members will be urged to provide exclusive deals to consumers who exercise their franchise on November 20, 2024.
  3. Social Media Outreach: To reach a larger audience and highlight the importance of voting, RAI will make aggressive use of its social media platforms to raise awareness about voting and civic duty.
