Artist Pritam Kanjilal returns with his second solo exhibition, The Evolving of Kanjilal Sweets, at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, from April 7–13, 2025. On view daily between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM in Gallery 4, this show presents a poignant visual exploration of life’s unpredictability—akin to a box of sweets where each piece is crafted with care yet distinct in flavor.
Kanjilal’s works span watercolors, pen and ink, acrylics, and mixed media, reflecting the impermanence and chaos of existence. Influenced by a world shaped by pandemics, wars, economic shifts, and fatherhood, his art juxtaposes contrasts—light and dark, harmony and conflict, tradition and change—challenging viewers to find meaning in life’s dualities.
Inspired by a sweet maker’s devotion, every artwork is a reflection of creative spontaneity, carefully constructed yet born of freedom. “This series captures transformation,” says Kanjilal, “each piece made with the same passion but shaped by new experiences—just like life.”
