Price of Waterproof Footwear in Mexico Increases by 9% to An Average of $3.3 per Pair

Mexico Waterproof Footwear Export Price in June 2023

In June 2023, the waterproof footwear price amounted to $3.3 per pair (FOB, Mexico), surging by 9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 563% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $11.2 per pair in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -9.0% per month.

As there is only one major exported type of waterproof footwear, the average price level is determined by prices for waterproof footwear, no toe cap, over ankle.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for footwear; waterproof, n.e.s. in heading no. 6401, rubber or plastic outer soles and uppers (not assembled by stitch, rivet, nail, screw, plug or similar) amounted to -5.6% per month.

Mexico Waterproof Footwear Exports

In June 2023, approximately 136K pairs of waterproof footwear were exported from Mexico; reducing by -58.2% against May 2023. Overall, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when exports increased by 983% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 429K pairs in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, waterproof footwear exports contracted notably to $443K (IndexBox estimates) in June 2023. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when exports increased by 189% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 1.2M pairs in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Waterproof footwear, no toe cap, over ankle (136K pairs) was the largest type of waterproof footwear exported from Mexico, accounting for a approximately 100% share of total exports.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of waterproof footwear, no toe cap, over ankle amounted to +9.5%.

In value terms, waterproof footwear, no toe cap, over ankle ($443K) also remains the largest type of waterproof footwear exported from Mexico.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of waterproof footwear, no toe cap, over ankle was relatively modest.

Mexico Waterproof Footwear Exports by Country

the United States (133K pairs) was the main destination for waterproof footwear exports from Mexico, with a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by Costa Rica (3.1K pairs), with a 2.3% share of total exports.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +10.1%.

In value terms, the United States ($423K) remains the key foreign market for waterproof footwear exports from Mexico, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Costa Rica ($19K), with a 4.3% share of total exports.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to the United States was relatively modest.
