Price of Bracelets Rises Slightly to $1.9 per Unit in Thailand

Thailand Bracelet Import Price in July 2023

In July 2023, the bracelet price amounted to $1.9 per unit (CIF, Thailand), with an increase of 18% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 28% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,762 per thousand units. From February 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($7.5 per unit), while the price for China ($1.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Thailand Bracelet Imports

In July 2023, after two months of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of watch straps, bands and bracelets, when their volume decreased by -37.9% to 1.9M units. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 with an increase of 441% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 3M units in June 2023, and then fell dramatically in the following month.

In value terms, bracelet imports plummeted to $3.5M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 with an increase of 104% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 4.8M units in June 2023, and then declined markedly in the following month.

Thailand Bracelet Imports by Country

In July 2023, China (1.8M units) was the main bracelet supplier to Thailand, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan (28K units), with a 1.5% share of total imports. Vietnam (27K units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.5% share.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +30.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Japan (-8.3% per month) and Vietnam (-1.7% per month).

In value terms, China ($2.9M) constituted the largest supplier of bracelet to Thailand, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($154K), with a 4.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Switzerland, with a 3.1% share.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from China amounted to +18.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Japan (-7.0% per month) and Switzerland (-1.2% per month).
