Poppi, the brainchild of Pooja Baheti, has emerged as a transformative force in the Indian fashion landscape. Equipped with a background in Psychology and an unwavering passion for fashion, Pooja embarked on a remarkable journey in 2020 to establish Poppi, a brand that aimed to redefine women’s western wear in India. Her vision was to create a homegrown and super stylish brand that addressed a significant gap in the Indian fashion industry.

The birth of Poppi wasn’t a straightforward process. Pooja had been harboring this dream for over a year, but it was her husband who ultimately encouraged her to take the leap. The path to realizing her vision was fraught with challenges. Pooja traveled to numerous manufacturing units across India, grappled with quality issues, and even went on to set up her manufacturing unit to ensure her dream materialized.

Poppi’s journey took an unexpected turn with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic shortly after its launch in January 2020. The brand was compelled to suspend operations temporarily. However, undeterred by the setbacks, Pooja and her dedicated team displayed remarkable resilience. They worked diligently to regain momentum as restrictions eased in July 2020. Through strategic marketing, marketplace listings, and a captivating online presence, Poppi began to gain traction, evolving into a resounding success story.

The brand’s footprint has expanded considerably over the years. What began in a small Mumbai apartment has now evolved into a thriving business with its office and a dedicated team of 15 individuals. Poppi has diversified into various categories, including Poppi Luxe and exquisite jewelry. It has established a strong online presence through its website and major marketplaces like NykaaFashion, Myntra, and Ajio. Additionally, the brand is venturing into select physical stores, further cementing its presence in the Indian fashion landscape.

What truly distinguishes Poppi is its unwavering commitment to sustainable and size-inclusive fashion. The brand’s core belief is that clothing should adapt to fit the individual, not the other way around, underpinning its entire philosophy. Poppi takes pride in exclusively designing all its prints in-house, ensuring a unique and authentic appeal. The brand is dedicated to creating clothing that complements the Indian woman’s body, countering the trend of international brands supplying ill-fitting collections to the Indian market. Furthermore, Poppi champions sustainability by advocating for fair wages, equal rights, and safe working conditions for all its vendors and team members. The brand is making strides toward an eco-friendly packaging approach and has ambitious plans for a fully green business model, marking its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Poppi, led by Pooja Baheti, has transcended its origins as a small startup to emerge as a symbol of sustainable and stylish fashion in India. Beyond fashion, Poppi is on a mission to redefine beauty standards and ensure equitable treatment for all stakeholders. It’s not just a brand but an embodiment of values that resonate with the modern Indian woman.
