To strengthen Pitti Uomo promotional efforts towards the Japanese media and fashion sector and to create unique projects centered on menswear and lifestyle, Pitti Immagine has partnered with the Japan Fashion Week Organization.
According to Raffaello Napoleone, the CEO of Pitti Immagine, “the Japanese fashion system as a whole plays a central role for Italian fashion and therefore for the Pitti Immagine trade fair activities in the clothing and textile sector.” We also know how beneficial Pitti fairs and events are for promoting the best Japanese fashion ideas around the world. We think that our commitment to Japan must increase in both quantity and quality, particularly through coordinated and unified action in the direction that addresses manufacturing companies, specialized shops and department stores, young designers, and emerging brands, particularly at this time when the long wave of economic and political shocks of the last five years is having the greatest impact on international trade.
Given Japan Fashion Week’s crucial role as a reference for the nation’s entire fashion system, working with it to launch an integrated promotional policy aimed at the various players and most influential communities in Japanese fashion was a logical choice. Furthermore, Pitti Uomo and JFW have a lengthy history of collaborative projects that have been successful due to a lovely balance between their goals and execution strategies.
We are pleased to begin a new and exciting collaborative project in anticipation of the forthcoming Pitti press trip in Asia.
Hiroshi Komoda, Executive Director of the Japan Fashion Week Organization, said on the new collaboration:
“We are quite proud to establish this collaboration with Pitti Immagine, which has over 50 years of experience and deals with materials similar to ours in addition to clothing. For many Japanese brands, Pitti Immagine Uomo has been an effective entry point into the European market. Since 2012, we have launched over 50 brands and initiatives on the Pitti Uomo platform thanks to numerous partnerships with Pitti Immagine. To name a few, there are J-QUALITY, VERSUS TOKYO, SULVAM, BED j.w. FORD, Yoshiokubo, TOKYO FASHION AWARD, and TOKYO KNIT. By providing for the journalists covering the event, we seek to strengthen the Italian and Japanese fashion industries. We also hope to grow the event by adding buyers, exhibitors, and events.

About JAPAN FASHION WEEK ORGANIZATION
In order to further strengthen and develop the international competitiveness of Japan’s textile and fashion industries, the Japan Fashion Week Organization (henceforth referred to as the “JFW Organization”) was founded in 2005 with the cooperation of textile/fashion manufacturers, fashion designers, and distributors, hence both the upstream and downstream side.
To support the designer’s business, the JFW Organization organizes events such as “Tokyo Fashion Week,” “TOKYO FASHION AWARD,” and “FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO.” Additionally, the JFW Japan Creation, “Premium Textile Japan,” and the Japan Booths at MILANO UNICA/INTERTEXTILE SHANGHAI support the manufacturing business and spread the word about Japan’s superior textile/fashion products and services abroad. Tokyo is also positioned as the “only base for textiles and fashion in the world” and the hub for fashion trendsetting in Asia.
Furthermore, to accomplish the aforementioned goals, the JFW Organization collaborates with designers, manufacturers, and clothing shops to organize a range of industry-related events and seeks to deepen relationships with fashion-related organizations in Japan and abroad.
