PHDCCI Charts India’s MMF Future with High-Impact Textile Conference

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) hosted a pivotal conference titled “The Future of Textiles: Challenges and Opportunities in Man-Made Fibres” at PHD House, drawing over 80 key players from the textile ecosystem to deliberate India’s roadmap in the man-made fibre (MMF) sector.

The event opened with a welcome from Mr. Madhu Sudhan Bhageria, Chair of the PHDCCI Textile Committee and CMD of Filatex India Ltd., who emphasized India’s urgent need to build a competitive, sustainable MMF industry to rival global leaders like China.

Mr. Ashok Malhotra, Mission Director of the National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM), delivered the keynote address, spotlighting India’s latent capacity in technical textiles and the need for accelerated domestic innovation and export readiness.

Industry leaders such as Mr. Sanjay Sharma (BMD Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Rajeev Gupta (RSWM Ltd.) highlighted the MMF sector’s global momentum and India’s potential to scale exports through policy synergy and innovation.

Mr. Jitender Kumar Gupta from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) stressed the role of quality control and standardization via QCOs and BIS certification to boost industry credibility.

Expert insights also came from Wazir Advisors, Waste2Wear, Brands & Sourcing Leaders Association, Fabiosys Innovations, and others who explored sustainability, fibre engineering, and market-linked innovation across the MMF value chain.

Moderated by Mr. Rakesh Sangrai, with a thematic address by Mr. Naveen Seth (DSG, PHDCCI), the event served as a catalyst for strategic discussions to bolster India’s leadership in man-made fibres.
