Paris Fashion Week: Female Designers’ Achievements

After a historic week for female designers, Paris Fashion Week came to an end.

Alexander McQueen showed a clear appreciation for the creative contributions of women. It was Sarah Burton’s last show as creative director, having spent the previous two decades working with the late designer Alexander McQueen. He was widely recognized as a groundbreaking genius in the fashion industry until his untimely death in 2010. The dresses in her loose-skirted, stretchy, and elegantly tailored spring/summer 2024 collection were a hit with customers. Curvy models also represented women who weren’t the standard size.

Artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s gothic collection for Dior Spring/summer 2024 was inspired by witches, who were formerly connected with black magic and evil but are today seen as historical instances of unconstrained and daring women.

Burton’s numerous female followers were concerned when her replacement, male designer Sean McGirr, was announced. Still, the ecstatic acclaim at the conclusion of her farewell presentation showed that Burton’s legacy would continue.

Board shorts, polo shirts, and even swimming togs were among the various choices this season at Miu Miu, a show known for its eccentric collections.
