NIFT established itself as a lighthouse for several tenacious and dedicated professionals as they developed into the pinnacle of torchbearers in the fashion industry. Academic achievement has been fostered while maintaining a focus on the NIFT’s historic legacy of being at the forefront of fashion education for more than three decades.
NIFT Mumbai organized a three days Orientation Program for its 320 new entrants in Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses. The 3-day Orientation Program began on 26th July at the NIFT Campus Kharghar. On the first day, the formal function of the orientation program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and Saraswathi Vandana. Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Pawan Godiawala, in his message, congratulated all the students and asked them to develop their unique identity by working hard and having a competition with themselves. He mentioned that NIFT would be happy to always remain a launchpad for its students to step on the moon of their careers. Students were introduced to the Academic Structure by the Campus Academic Coordinator Prof. Dr. Sushil Raturi and were acquainted with examination procedures by Joint Director Mr Khusal Junagade.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology a leader in fashion education takes pride in having the ability to integrate knowledge, traditional arts, contemporary thought, academic freedom, innovations in design and technology, and creative thinking to continuously upgrade its curriculum to address the everchanging needs of the world. NIFT today has 18 professionally managed campuses throughout the country. NIFT Mumbai runs two Postgraduate and six Undergraduate programs. The PG Courses are Master of Design Space and Master of Fashion Management. The UG courses are Bachelor of Design in Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, and Bachelor of Fashion Technology.
The three days orientation program was designed to give an insight into NIFT teaching pedagogy, values, rules and regulation, and the socio-education environment of the institute. On the second day, a motivational speech by eminent speaker; Mr. Aloke Bajpai, Life Coach & Mentor for Youth, was organized to motivate students to take the right path to success. The students were apprised about the institute’s strong stand against ragging with a talk by Lawyer Ms. Janaki K. Mahar so that, the new students are well informed about their rights. Alumni interaction with new students was organized to give the new students an understanding of their journey at NIFT and an overview of how the different industries work.
The last day, 28th July 2023, began with a motivational speech on unboxing one’s brand by Ms. Riti Kapoor Chopra, Trainer, Speaker, and Educator. Ms. Riti has been associated with various Corporate Houses and premier Educational Institutions to impart learning to over 1,00,000 participants. The motivational speech was followed by a talk by a Clinical Psychologist Ms. Sashi Rekha Tallapragada on gender sensitization. Ms. Sashi Rekha addressed the need to be empathetic towards their peers and their choices. The Orientation Programme concluded with an ice-breaking session to help students connect with their batch mates and work towards positive team building through fun activities and games.
The Orientation Programme at NIFT Mumbai launched the new students into their professional education on a memorable note, initiated their belongingness to the institute, and look forward to facilitating their dreams to be part of the fashion industry.
