Every outfit Beyoncé has worn on her Renaissance World Tour is stunning, from the custom Tiffany & Co. minidress she wore in Toronto to the silver Marine Serre catsuit she donned in Chicago. She is at the top of her game, but it doesn’t stop her from setting higher standards. She debuted Pharrell Williams’ first-ever custom Louis Vuitton outfit at her July 26 performance in Detroit.

It was just a matter of time before the celebrities appeared in the creations once more after Beyoncé and Jay Z sat front row at Williams’ first Louis Vuitton show last month in Paris. Williams, the brand’s recently hired men’s creative director, designed a glimmering catsuit for the legendary singer’s sold-out Ford Field performance. A twist on the brand’s instantly recognisable Damier pattern is featured in Williams’s unique appearance.

The catsuit is not simply an exciting development in Pharrell Williams’ stint at Louis Vuitton; it also serves as an example of the exceptional craftsmanship he aspires to showcase in his next menswear collection. Over 1500 hours were spent on only the stitching in order to hand-assemble each and every Damier square. The outfit also has 60,000 black pearls, 5000 chrome spheres, and 8000 crystal silver beads, all of which were hand-embroidered.

Williams used the occasion to scatter some Easter eggs. Ten golden bees made of strass rhinestones and black enamel were stitched onto the suit as a tribute to Beyoncé’s fan following, the BeyHive. Williams also created a number of unique Damier looks for the tour’s dancers, which, yes, included Blue Ivy, in if that wasn’t a challenging enough task. What a mother-daughter look to remember.
