On Tuesday, the Council of Fashion Designers of America unveiled 71 designers for New York Fashion Week in September, including five debuts.

Ralph Lauren, Jonathan Cohen, and 3.1 Phillip Lim will return after three seasons for the season, which runs from Friday, September 8 through Wednesday, September 13.

The season opens on Thursday with Stuart Vevers’ 10th anniversary at Coach, followed by Peter Do’s Helmut Lang debut at 2pm.

“This season’s official New York Fashion Week schedule will again showcase the best of American fashion, both emerging and established. “We’re excited to see Ralph Lauren, Jonathan Cohen, and 3.1 Phillip Lim return to the New York runway, adding to the week’s energy,” said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.

The CFA, American fashion’s regulatory body, will present further collections digitally and by appointment.

Five young designers—Advisry, Chan Chit Lo, FFORME, Grace Ling, and Sho Konishi—will debut on the official calendar.

Last September, editors saw Keith Herron’s Advisry’s cerebral street style and screen-printed T-shirts inspired by Jean Luc Godard’s Masculin Feminin. Chan Chit Lo designs innovative and poetic male knitwear; FFORME creates architectural shapes and silhouettes; Grace Ling from Singapore emphasises humour and surrealism; and Sho Konishi is an avant-gardist.

The week also included collection showcases by CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Colin LoCascio, Diotima, Kim Shui, Kozaburo, Who Decides War, and Zankov.

Kolb added, “New York Fashion Week is an integral part of New York City’s vibrant culture and sense of constant evolution and discovery.

The independent talent agency IMG manages NYFW: The Shows, which takes place at Spring Studios in Manhattan and increasingly Brooklyn.
