National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Daman organised the 3rd edition of its annual fest “Spectrum” on the campus, bringing together a mix of cultural and sports activities. Spectrum, NIFT’s flagship student festival, is envisioned as a platform that blends performing arts, sports, literary events and fashion-led creative expression, encouraging holistic development and peer interaction. This year’s edition attracted enthusiastic participation from students across South Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman, reinforcing the institute’s role as a creative hub for youth in the region.

Campus Director, Dr. Sanjay Shrivastava, inaugurated the programme. He highlighted the significance of Spectrum in nurturing leadership, teamwork, and creativity among NIFT students. He emphasised that such festivals are not only avenues for entertainment but also experiential learning spaces where students plan, coordinate and execute large-scale events—skills crucial for future professionals in fashion, retail, and creative industries. He underlined that the 3rd edition at NIFT Daman reflects the growing stature of the campus and its commitment to providing a dynamic, student-centric environment.

On the sidelines of Spectrum, NIFT Daman is also organising a Craft Bazar, creating a direct interface between artisans and the campus community. Artists from Gujarat, including Mata ni Pachedi artisan Roshan Chitra, accessory, and jewellery designer Priya Makhvana, Pithura painting artist Ratva Sunil Bhai, and Warli artists from Dudhni, are participating in the bazar. They are not only selling their products but also giving live demonstrations of their craft processes, allowing students and visitors to gain deeper insights into traditional techniques, narratives, and material practices.

The Craft Bazaar has been conceptualised to complement Spectrum by foregrounding India’s rich craft heritage and connecting it with contemporary design education. For students, it offers an opportunity to observe real-time craft demonstrations, understand pricing and customer interactions, and appreciate the role of design, display, and storytelling in enhancing market appeal. For artisans, the platform provides visibility, direct sales, and valuable feedback from a young, design-aware audience, aligning with NIFT’s broader mandate of supporting artisans through design and management interventions.
