Fashion-tech startup NEWME has launched its Fit Check Internship, a programme that turns young people’s interest in fashion and social media into a paid opportunity. The initiative focuses on creativity, personal style and confidence on camera. Candidates do not need a traditional resume or cover letter to apply.
NEWME to Invest ₹20 Lakh in the Programme
The two-month internship will involve 60 interns across 30 NEWME stores nationwide. The company plans to invest ₹20 lakh in the initiative.
Each intern will receive a monthly stipend and ₹5,000 in NEWME shopping credits every month. Participants will also get a full year of complimentary access to the brand’s wardrobe.
Hands-On Experience in Fashion and Retail
Interns will work at nearby NEWME stores. They will preview new collections, create social media content and spot emerging fashion trends. They will also share customer insights from trial-room interactions.
The programme includes structured learning modules in merchandising, retail operations and brand building. These activities will help participants understand different areas of the fashion business.
Top Interns May Progress to Leadership Roles
NEWME will offer top-performing interns the chance to move into City Style Lead roles. The five best performers will become Fit Check Leads.
These five interns will receive a year-long wardrobe from NEWME. They will also get opportunities to collaborate on brand campaigns and appear across the company’s digital platforms. In addition, they may have the opportunity to secure a full-time role with the brand.
NEWME Focuses on Creativity Over Traditional Applications
Sumit Jasoria, Co-founder and CEO of NEWME, said fashion trends increasingly emerge from trial rooms, social media and community interactions rather than traditional runways.
He added that the programme recognises young consumers’ creative instincts as a professional skill. It also aims to create new entry points into the fashion industry.
Instead of traditional applications, candidates must submit fit checks and creative video assignments. NEWME will assess their originality, personality and fashion sense rather than focusing on academic qualifications or work experience.
Application Dates and How to Apply
Applications for the Fit Check Internship are open until 15 July 2026. The programme was scheduled to begin in August 2026. Candidates can apply through the NEWME mobile app.
