Fashion-tech startup NEWME has unveiled what it calls the world’s first Fit Check Internship, a unique programme that transforms Gen Z’s love for outfit styling and social media content into a paid career opportunity. Designed for young fashion enthusiasts, the initiative values creativity, style instinct and camera confidence over traditional resumes and cover letters.

The two-month internship programme will see NEWME invest ₹20 lakh, selecting 60 interns across 30 stores nationwide. Along with a monthly stipend, participants will receive ₹5,000 worth of NEWME shopping credits every month and enjoy a full year of complimentary access to the brand’s wardrobe.

Beyond the rewards, the internship offers practical exposure to multiple aspects of the fashion business. Interns will be assigned to nearby NEWME stores, where they will preview new collections, create social-first content, identify emerging trends and provide customer insights directly from the trial room. The programme also includes structured learning modules covering merchandising, retail operations and brand building, providing valuable industry experience.

Top-performing participants will have the opportunity to progress to City Style Lead roles, while the five best interns will become Fit Check Leads, earning a year-long wardrobe from NEWME, collaborations on brand campaigns, features across the company’s digital platforms and the possibility of securing a full-time role with the brand.

Speaking about the initiative, Sumit Jasoria, Co-founder and CEO of NEWME, said that fashion trends today are increasingly shaped through trial rooms, social media and community interactions rather than traditional runways. He noted that the programme recognises the creative instincts of young consumers as a valuable professional skill while opening new pathways into the fashion industry.

Instead of conventional applications, aspiring interns will be evaluated through fit check submissions and creative video assignments, with emphasis placed on originality, personality and fashion sense rather than academic qualifications or work experience.

Applications for the Fit Check Internship will remain open until 15 July 2026, with the programme scheduled to begin in August 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the NEWME mobile app.
