The 5th edition of the Indian Dialysis Olympiad (IDO) is being held in Bengaluru by NephroPlus, Asia’s largest dialysis network and a leader in revolutionizing dialysis care, building on the tremendous success of past years. Held at Kanteerava Stadium from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, this eagerly anticipated athletic event was exclusive for dialysis patients alone. It provided an encouraging setting for competitors to show their power and resiliency in the face of kidney failure.

In addition to Health Minister Sri Dinesh Gundu Rao, badminton champion Saina Nehwal, Dr. Raghunandan (Deputy Director, NCD), Dr. Nazia Shekhaji, and Mrs. Nethravathi, 1200 people attended the ceremony, including about 800 dialysis patients. Their presence gave the participants a tremendous deal of inspiration and reaffirmed the idea that anybody may strive for greatness, regardless of health issues.

NephroPlus’ premier patient-focused program, the Indian Dialysis Olympiad, aims to inspire dialysis patients to play sports, make new friends, and rediscover the pleasure of exercise. A 50-meter walkathon, basketball (best of five), carrom, badminton, table tennis, and a football penalty shootout were among the thrilling activities offered during the event. Every tournament gave competitors an opportunity to show off their abilities, embrace the spirit of competition, and celebrate their will to live life outside of dialysis.

Regarding the Olympiad, NephroPlus’s founder and CEO, Mr. Vikram Vuppala, stated: “At NephroPlus, we think that dialysis should just be a part of a person’s life, not define it. Our goal with the Indian Dialysis Olympiad is to demonstrate that dialysis patients can have active, satisfying lives and engage in sports like everyone else. The tenacity and passion of our participants inspire us year after year, and this drives us to keep developing possibilities that empower them. We are thrilled to be bringing this special occasion to Bengaluru and are looking forward to hearing amazing tales of tenacity and willpower.

He further added, “NephroPlus is a leader in dialysis care across Karnataka, with around 110 centers in government hospitals and 21 in private hospitals, ensuring high-quality, accessible care. Serving over 4,700 dialysis guests monthly, we focus on clinical excellence and a guest-centric approach. Our services include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis, along with unique offerings like Holiday Dialysis, Dialysis on Call, and Dialysis on Wheels. Dedicated to improving lives, NephroPlus prioritizes patient comfort through personalized care and flexible treatment options, redefining kidney care in Karnataka with innovation and compassion, one dialysis session at a time.”

Saina Nehwal, badminton icon, commented, “It is truly inspiring to see dialysis patients defy the odds and participate in sports with such enthusiasm. The Indian Dialysis Olympiad is a wonderful initiative that proves determination and passion can overcome any challenge.”

The Indian Dialysis Olympiad stands as the world’s only sporting event exclusively designed for dialysis patients, underscoring NephroPlus’ unwavering mission to empower them with a will to win. Through this initiative, the brand continues to foster a sense of community, resilience, and optimism among those battling kidney disease.
