The Ministry of Textiles and its organisations are carrying out cleanliness drives and awareness activities as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign.

On 24 September 2026, Divisional Heads inspected their respective sections at GPOA-3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi. The inspections focused on cleanliness, hygiene and the overall upkeep of workplaces.

Officials reviewed waste disposal practices and removed unwanted and obsolete materials. They also encouraged employees to maintain clean and organised workspaces. In addition, the exercise highlighted the shared responsibility of officials in maintaining cleanliness at the workplace.

Jute Corporation of India Leads Cleanliness Activities

The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI) conducted several cleanliness and awareness activities under the themes Clean Public Places, Jan Bhagidari Advocacy and Swachh Paathshala.

JCI officials, employees and members of the public took part in activities at different locations. These initiatives promoted cleanliness, hygiene, civic responsibility and environmental awareness. They also encouraged greater public participation in the SHS campaign.

Cleanliness Drives in Public Places

JCI carried out cleanliness activities at several locations across India.

At the Kharupetia Departmental Purchase Centre (DPC) in Darrang District, Assam, JCI worked with Government Model Women’s College, Mangaldai. The team conducted a cleanliness drive and installed dustbins in public areas. The activity promoted sanitation, hygiene, waste management and environmental responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Samsi DPC in the Malda Region conducted a cleanliness drive in the market area near the SBI ATM. The initiative encouraged people to maintain cleaner surroundings and manage waste responsibly.

The Lakhipur DPC in Assam, under the Guwahati Regional Office, also organised a drive at Kharubucha Point Bus Stop. The team cleaned the public area and raised awareness among commuters and local residents.

Similarly, JCI conducted a cleanliness drive at Abhayapuri Rajbari Main Road in Bongaigaon District, Assam, under the Gauripur Region. The activity focused on sanitation, hygiene and responsible waste management.

Jan Bhagidari Advocacy Encourages Community Participation

JCI also organised sports activities at various locations under the Jan Bhagidari Advocacy initiative.

The activities encouraged employees and members of the public to take part in fitness and community programmes. In addition, they promoted teamwork, participation and collective responsibility.

National Jute Board Promotes Clean Workplaces

The National Jute Board (NJB) conducted a cleanliness drive at Jute Diversified Product (JDP) units as part of SHS 2026.

Employees from NJB and participating units joined the activity at Recrust International and SL Packaging. The teams cleaned the premises and reviewed existing cleanliness and waste-management practices.

The inspection found that the participating units already maintained clean and hygienic workplaces. The practices also reflected awareness among workers about waste handling and workplace cleanliness.

NJB appreciated the efforts of the management and workers. The activity also reinforced the message that cleanliness requires continuous participation from all stakeholders.

Cotton Corporation Promotes Clean Desks and Campuses

The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. also conducted Clean Desk and Clean Campus activities at its Head Office and Branch Offices.

Employees cleaned and organised their workspaces, cupboards and surrounding areas. They also identified and separated unwanted materials.

Under the Kabad Se Jugaad initiative, employees segregated scrap and unusable materials for systematic disposal. The activity promoted the 3R principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. It also explored opportunities to generate revenue from recyclable scrap.

As a result, the initiative strengthened employee awareness about workplace cleanliness. It also encouraged teams to take collective responsibility for maintaining organised and hygienic work environments.

Continuing the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign

Through these activities, organisations under the Ministry of Textiles are supporting the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026.
