Mumbai-based fashion maven Masaba Gupta, known for her bold and eclectic designs, has expanded her creative horizons with the launch of ‘The Masaba Bride.’ The maiden campaign for this new venture, titled ‘Patiala Portraits,’ is graced by the presence of the illustrious actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. ‘The Masaba Bride’ introduces a world of luxury bridalwear that beautifully fuses traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics.
The collection showcases an array of breathtaking ensembles, including double odhani lehengas, Patiala salwar sets, tissue saris, cape gowns, and skirts, along with customizable pieces. These exquisite creations draw inspiration from the opulence of the erstwhile royalty of Hyderabad and Patiala. The designs are brought to life with eclectic motifs such as son chidiya (bird in flight) and neel kamal (lotus), meticulously woven into velvets, raw silks, and organza. The intricate work includes thread embroidery, mirror embellishments, pearl detailing, jaali kaam (lattice work), and leheriya, among other artistic techniques.
True to Masaba Gupta’s signature design language, the collection is a burst of vibrant colors, with shades ranging from the regal mango and sorbet green to the striking rani pink. Prints inspired by nature, including genda phool (marigold) and narangi baugh (orange orchard), add a touch of whimsy and elegance to the pieces.
Gupta’s vision for ‘The Masaba Bride’ extends beyond convention, emphasizing inclusivity and empowerment. She states, “I believe marriage is one of the most glorious days in every individual’s life, and I want everyone, regardless of gender, to revel in their wedding festivities, feeling liberated, powerful, and completely authentic.” The collection offers a range of pricing, catering to diverse preferences, with pieces ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹5 lakh. ‘The Masaba Bride’ will be available at select brand stores and online, providing brides with an opportunity to express their individuality while celebrating their special day.
