  • On May 12, 2023, Marimekko will present its yearly outdoor fashion show for the general public and commemorate the inauguration of its first terrace outside in Helsinki’s Esplanade Park.
  • The event will feature vibrant summer clothing from the Spring/Summer 2023 line from Marimekko.
  • Additionally, Marimekko will debut Marimekko Terassi, the first outdoor Marimekko terrace in the world.

On May 12, 2023, Helsinki’s Esplanade Park will play a home to the annual public open-air fashion show and launch of Marimekko, a Finnish design company. For the occasion, in-store activities will be held all over Finland.On Marimekko Day, which marks the beginning of summer, beautiful summer clothing will be on display.

The strength of optimism is reflected in Marimekko’s ideology in the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Marimekko has archetypal forms embellished throughout the collection with vivid primary colors and almost watercolor-like tones in floral designs from various decades. According to a press statement from the firm, this year’s fashion show will include Marimekko community members who were founding through an open casting.

Marimekko Day will now be celebrated in several places than Helsinki this year. At few Marimekko stores, the event is commemorated in various ways. Aleksinkulma and Esplanade shops in Helsinki, as well as Turku, Tampere, Jyvaskyla, and Oulu, host events.Together with The Glass restaurant, Marimekko will debut its first outdoor terrace on May 8, 2023. The ‘Marimekko Terassi’ terrace is situated right adjacent to the Marimekko main shop at Pohjoisesplanadi 33 in Helsinki. 

The brand-new outdoor restaurant serves Nordic cuisine in a setting decorated with Marimekko motifs and hues. Up to August 27, 2023, the outside patio will be accessible.Since decades, the Esplanade Park Marimekko open-air fashion display has given summer Delight and vibrant colors to Helsinki’s downtown. 

By constructing an outdoor patio with Marimekko motif in conjunction with The Glass, we now wish to contribute to bringing life to the Helsinki city center throughout the summer.
