With the trends of 2023 exuding all possible shades of spectrum, containing the skimpy, raunchiness of the Y2k or mermaidcore,on one end and the beige, white neutrals emnated hushed luxury sweeping in after the ‘Succession’ gaga, on the other, the Barbiecore, will be shining all in its own glory, with the pedestal occupied for another season. And all is fathomable when it is finally the Pinky-pink season, with Greta Gerwing’s ‘Barbie’starring Margot Robbie, set to hit the theaters on July 21.
Although, Robbie is expected to unleash her inner-barbie in the up and coming days, dressed pink-everything for the movie’s promotions, but an ensemble donned by the actor at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills ,featuring a classic Barbie pink, Valentino minidress with polka dots and a midriff baring cutout,certainly paid homage to supermodel Karen Mudler, regarded as the real-life barbie in her prime days.
The custom made dress, is a reiteration of a wine hued- midi length dress from the brand’s Spring Summer 1993 collection. Mudler graced the dress with her charm on the runway for that season. Post her debut in the initial 90s, the dutch model’s height of 5 feet 10 inches, her shiny blonde hair and ocean blue eyes garnernered her the ‘real-life barbie’ title. And reminiscing the model for the film’s release is only justifiable.
