MarediModa Cannes 2026 to Showcase Summer 2028 Textile Trends

MarediModa Cannes will return from 27 to 29 October 2026 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. The 24th edition will bring together Europe’s leading fabric and accessory companies for beachwear, underwear and athleisure. Visitors will discover more than 100 collections for Summer 2028.

Following events in Miami and Milan, the Cannes show will offer a wide-ranging programme. It will feature trend forecasts, workshops, installations and an area dedicated to athleisure. The event will also present specialist studios offering exclusive prints and designs, along with contract manufacturers.

Ethics and environmental responsibility will remain key themes throughout the exhibition. In addition, the event will highlight European textile manufacturing and its role in quality, innovation and creative development.

Claudio Taiana, President of MarediModa, said, “We return to Cannes following our initiatives in Miami and Milan, confident that we have prepared the year’s key industry event to the highest possible standard,”

He added, “Above all, we remain the leading international event for the premium segment. In a climate of widespread and profound uncertainty, MarediModa represents a safe harbour in terms of product quality, ethics, innovation and creativity. Despite improvised attempts to imitate our format, for 24 years the Cannes show has remained the industry’s undisputed hub: where collections take shape, where professionals meet, where ideas and visions are shared and, why not, where the industry continues to grow through new experiences.”

Summer 2028 Trends Explore Five Creative Directions

Trend forecasting will once again be led by David Shah and his team. The programme will explore five themes shaping Spring/Summer 2028 across beachwear, bodywear and athleisure.

Three themes will debut at MarediModa Miami before appearing at MarediModa Milano. Cannes visitors will then discover the complete trend overview. Shah’s presentations will also examine social changes, emerging lifestyles, colours and materials.

Music Inspires Five Fashion Attitudes

Music will play a central role in the season’s trend direction. As consumers seek more personal ways to dress, they increasingly draw inspiration from music and other cultural influences.

These references shape mood, attitude and identity. They also offer designers new ways to express emotion through colour, materials and silhouettes.

The OCEAN VIBES concept focuses on hope and positivity. It translates musical subcultures into design ideas that reflect changing cultural moods and style preferences. The concept also highlights regeneration, community building and renewed energy.

The LYCRA Company Celebrates 80 Years of the Bikini

The LYCRA Company will participate as an official partner of MarediModa 2026. It will mark the bikini’s 80th anniversary through its “Designed to Move. Built to Last” project, developed with Carvico and Jersey Lomellina.

The project will trace beachwear’s evolution from the 1960s to today. An exhibition of bikinis and artistic illustrations will highlight the role of LYCRA® fibre in textile innovation.

At the centre of the initiative is LYCRA XTRA LIFE® fibre. It offers resistance to chlorine, heat, sun lotions and UV rays. These properties help swimwear retain its comfort, fit and performance over time.

A special show will take place on 27 October at 6:00 p.m., the exhibition’s opening evening. The presentation will combine live music, imagery and technology to celebrate the bikini’s history and the importance of durability.

Through this project, The LYCRA Company will highlight the role of garment longevity in sustainable beachwear. Longer-lasting garments can help bring innovation, quality and sustainability together.

The Link 2026 Highlights Emerging Design Talent

The 2026 edition of The Link has attracted strong participation from young designers. The talent-scouting project identifies and promotes creative work from students at leading European universities and art and design schools.

This year, organisers received 133 project submissions, a significant increase over 2025. Both selection rounds have now concluded, and the finalists have been chosen.

In Cannes, the finalists will present their work in a dedicated exhibition area. They will also take part in a fashion show on the evening of 28 October.

Through The Link, MarediModa continues to connect emerging designers with the wider fashion industry. The initiative also gives young talent a platform to share new ideas and creative approaches.
