Spanish fashion brand Mango is teaming up with the Centre for Higher Education in Fashion Design (CSDMM) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid to enhance its focus on sustainability. The collaboration involves the development of a training program starting in 2024.

Approximately 250 Mango employees will undergo sustainability training, covering areas such as recycling procedures, the latest sustainable materials, certifications, and circular design principles. The initiative aims to equip buyers and designers across all Mango apparel lines with knowledge and skills to contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry.

Leila Rettali, global director of talent and organizational development at Mango, emphasized the company’s commitment to attracting and retaining talent. Training and development, along with employee rewards and benefits, align with Mango’s values. In 2023, Forbes recognized Mango as one of the world’s best employers.

Beyond internal initiatives, Mango is actively seeking partnerships with institutions sharing its dedication to knowledge creation and education. The company sees this collaboration as a significant step toward a more sustainable economic model.

Madrid Polytechnic University, with a mission to “improve society by generating and transferring knowledge,” collaborates with organizations in various domains, including architecture, sports, fashion, and technology. The partnership with Mango reflects the university’s commitment to training future professionals and fostering sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
