Malabar Group, a diverse Indian business conglomerate and owner of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, announced scholarships for 21,000 female students at its National Scholarship Programme for 2024 at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and it marked a new milestone in the Malabar National Scholarship Programme, according to a news release. The organisation has set aside Rs 16 crore to run the campaign.
“Education is the most powerful tool to change the world,” Malabar Group chairman MP Ahammed stated in a press statement. “Our scholarship scheme reflects the Malabar Group’s firm belief that education creates possibilities and transforms lives. We are devoted to eradicating barriers for young girls so they can pursue their educational goals and make meaningful contributions to society.”
The Malabar National Scholarship Programme was launched in 2007. To date, the scheme has offered financial assistance to over 95,000 girl students across India, with a total investment of over Rs 60 crore.
The Malabar Charitable Trust, established in 1999, serves as the Malabar Group of Companies’ corporate social responsibility wing. Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the company’s centrepiece, oversees Malabar Charitable Trust operations.
